5 things Yoga is NOT.

What Yog is NoT

When it comes to celebrating days of National importance, Project Kakri goes all confetti. And this time it was International Yog Day- 21st of June 2016.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Smt.Mamta Pandey, President, Ekta Mahila Mandal, Project Kakri, NCL addressed the gathering and spoke on importance of Yoga. Most importantly, amidst the conspicuous dazzle surrounding Yoga these days, she reminded us to not be glared by it and remember what Yoga is not. Excerpts from her address–

Education is the most powerful weaponwhich you can use to change the world. (4)

1. Yog is not just a workout- Yog is not just another exercise regime.  It is a science of oneness. It is a process that integrates physical, mental, and spiritual dimension of one’s existence.

2. Yog is not just a trend- It is not a fashion or trend which keeps altering every other day. It is not an outwardly thing vulnerable to vagaries of time. In fact, yog is beyond time. It was there then. It is here now. And it will always be there for mankind to establish connection with inner self.

3. Yog is not a cult- Yog is not about following a particular religion or cult. It is not about scriptures and rules. Instead, it is a process of self discovery. It stands on three pillars of method (of pranayam/asana), timings and determination of the practitioner. Yog calls for the journey inside within one’s own rules, within one’s own faith.

4.Yog is not a destination- Yog is a journey, not destination. It is a process, not result. Yog is not about mastery of poses, asanas or breathing patterns. It is a path of fulfillment and accomplishment.

5.Yog is not Yoga. And yes, to top it all, Yoga is NOT yoga. It is YOG. Yog means addition. It means oneness. It signifies unification of mind, body and soul.  It signifies unification of one’s transitory existence with perpetual existence.
