Newspaper these days are all abuzzed with news of soaring temperatures and heat waves round the country. At a time when getting out in sun is the last thing one wants to do, there are many who don’t have luxury of choice.
For those and for many others, a free water kiosk (pyau) was arrayed . The kiosk helped passersby and commuters in beating the scorching sun and heat. The free water kiosk at Kakri bus stop was inaugurated by Smt.Mamta Pandey, President, Mahila Mandal. And within minutes of inauguration, number of people drinking the life sustaining liquid crossed 100 mark. The move was welcomed by one and all unanimously.
What deserves a special mention is the conversation between two children, Gajju and Mangal. While inaugural proceedings were taking place, we noticed these two boys standing right behind Smt.Pandey. As soon as the water kiosk started operations, one of them ran towards it. What happened next is reproduced here in form of conversation—-
Gajju- “Madam, paani.” (“Madam, please give me water”)
Smt.Pandey smiles, pampers him and give sweets with water. Gajju eats sweet. Drinks water and calls the other boy, “Mangal, aa pee ley..thanda hai.(“Come on Mangal, drink it…it’s cold. “)
Mangal comes, drinks water and exclaims, “Amrit hai amrit” (“It’s elixir.”)
Well said Mangal. We second you. Water indeed is elixir.
