CMD NCL ADDRESSES ASIAN MINING CONGRESS

Shri P.K.Sinha CMD NCL said that coal industry is crucial to nation’s economy and the industry is largely credited for ensuring the energy security of the country. Shri Sinha said this in his Presidential address at 8th Asian Mining Congress organized by Mining Geological and Metallurgical Institute (MGMI) on Friday at Kolkata.

Addressing the gathering of mining mavens and experts, Shri Sinha said that mining sector is rapidly undergoing major changes. Emphasizing greatly on sustainable mining as the way forward, Shri Sinha said it is important for miners to be future-ready- both in terms of expertise and approach. Shri Sinha also highlighted the role of MGMI in the backdrop of changing industry dynamics coupled with ever growing aspirations of the nation from mining and mineral sector.

 

Mining stalwarts from across the world participated and brainstormed during the Asian Mining Congress (AMC). On this occasion, Shri R.K. Singh Deputy General Manager of Jayant area of NCL was conferred prestigious H.B. Ghosh Memorial Award for the year 2018-19 for ‘Best Safety Performance’ in opencast mines.

Notably, MGMI, established in 1906, is a renowned institute of mining professionals. The institute has been instrumental in being the cohesive force of the sector thereby establishing newer dimensions in mining sector of the country for more than 100 years. Presently, CMD NCL Shri P.K. Sinha is Vice President of the institute.

The Asian Mining Congress (AMC) is flagship International event organised by MGMI once in every two years in which mining and mineral professionals from across the globe participate.
