Rakhi- Thread of faith and care.

Story by-Mahila Mandal Wing | Project Kakri

Rakshabandhan is an occasion when sister ties a rakhi on wrist of her brother to symbolize her prayers for him and show appreciation for the protection and care he gives to her as brother. In first ever of its kind, the customary Rakshabandhan celebration was given a novel twist by Smt Anita Godse, President, Mahila Mandal Kakri. She called her team and shared the plan. And then began the journey- journey to Ranhore.

This Rakshabandhan, we reached out to tribals living in village Ranhore. Our team met tribal children and tied thread of faith on their hands. This was an opportunity to show our appreciation for the bond we share with our host communities.

The villagers were elated to see us again with yet another initiative to maintain regular contact.
And as always, this time too, we had stories. Stories with them- especially with the little ones, the most precious ones, the children.

While we were tying rakhi on children’s hand, we noticed a naughty triad- Munna, Rumbak and Ghala. They were busy conspiring something with youngest Munna taking the lead.smiley-1271145_640-1

Munna to Ghala (in their local dialect), “Let’s crush Rumbak.”
Ghala readied himself.
And just before setting himself in back gear, Ghala noticed us with camera. Bang!!! Caught.

Munna and Ghala- their expressions after being caught were priceless.
This impromptu image says it all-

We see Munna, Rumbak and Ghala as happiness herald. Full of joy, they brought smiles on many faces. Indeed, happiness has nothing to do with material possessions. Happiness is a choice.

The day was symbolism of happiness, trust and care inherent in the rakhis that were tied on children hands. Sweets and snacks were also distributed. The little ones flaunted their colourful rakhis and got them clicked 🙂

This was one innovative way to reach out to our community. Through many more innovative ways, we wish to maintain same personal bonds in the form of familial ties with all our host communities.
